A MAN who trashed him mum’s car tried different excuses in a bid to avoid unpaid work.
Unemployed Adrian Nowak, 24, said it would impede his search for a job.
Then he came up with a story about not being able to do unpaid work because his shower is broken.
Nowak, of Hallpark, Sauchie, appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court accompanied by a translator.
He turned up at court more than two hours late and defence solicitor Robert Smith apologised on his behalf.
He said his client had forgotten about his court date. He had done the same thing previously and this was also put down to “forgetfulness”.
He added that Nowak was “still in denial of having committed the offence”.

He was found guilty after trial of a charge that on October 6 at Torridon Court, Alloa, he damaged property by pulling cables out of a wi-fi internet box and throwing a slab at a vehicle.
Then on November 6 he failed to attend a court hearing.
Nowak was not keen on unpaid work because “he’s worried that it would impact on his search for work,” said Mr Smith.
Sheriff Neil Bowie was unimpressed and said: “I find that hard to believe.”
Nowak then came up with another reason, and said: “I would like a financial penalty because my shower doesn’t work.”
After a discussion in the dock involving Nowak, the translator and the solicitor, Mr Smith said: “He has some problems at his accommodation but it’s nothing that would stop him doing unpaid work.”
Sheriff Bowie recalled the case involved Nowak smashing the windscreen of his mum’s car which caused her “considerable upset” and prevented her from getting to her work.
He imposed a community payback order with 110 hours of unpaid work and a year of supervision.
