A local charity has received a generous donation from the Yorkshire Building Society to help them provide tailor made counselling sessions.
The Tullibody Community Development Trust (CDT) was granted £850 to put towards creating a safe, welcoming space for outreach work.
Put forward by a member of the Alloa branch of the Yorkshire, the group provides a community-owned space for everyone to use and enjoy.
The charity offers a wide range of activities, a community café and support services and also offers its hall for rent to the local community.
Janette McGowan, chairperson for the Tullibody CDT, said: “We are really grateful for the donation from Yorkshire Building Society charitable foundation that will help us continue to provide our services.
“We’re going to use this funding to refurbish a draughty meeting room used mainly for outreach work by local services: Citizens Advice Bureau, Social Security Scotland, Parkinson's Association and one-to-one counselling sessions.”
The foundation is funded through the Small Change Big Difference scheme.
This allows members to donate the leftover pennies on their account’s interest to help smaller charities around the UK.
Throughout 2023, the foundation has donated over £283,000 to local causes and charities nominated by members and colleagues from across the UK.
Lauren Douglas, customer consultant at the Yorkshire branch in Alloa, added: “We are proud to be able to support Tullibody Community Development with a donation from Yorkshire Building Society charitable foundation.
“The work that they are doing to support members of the community, providing a safe place to socialise and build friendships, and support members with services, classes and events, is just fantastic.”
