A GOOD cause which helps disabled school pupils across Clackmannanshire has been shortlisted at the Scottish Charity Awards.
Equi-Power Riding for the Disabled has been recognised as a finalist in the Small Charity of the Year category.
Supporting disabled riders across the central belt, the charity has been heavily involved in Clacks by working with Lochies Primary, Alloa Academy and Alva Academy.
Equi-Power has also taken on individual participants from Clackmannan, Tullibody and Alva – ensuring nobody who wishes to ride horses is left out.
Amanda Namey, service manager, said: “It is a huge honour for our charity to be shortlisted as a finalist for this award.
“We wouldn’t be able to achieve what we do without the support of our participants, volunteers and the wider community, and we are thrilled for everyone involved with Equi-Power to be recognised in this way.
“Over the last year we have worked with groups from Lochies Primary, Alloa Academy and Alva Academy, and hope that anyone with a friend or family member who has benefitted from attending a session will take a moment to vote for us in the People’s Choice Award today.”
The Scottish Charity Awards are run annually by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) and aim to celebrate the very best of the nation's good causes.
A judging panel will decide the overall winner of each category, while members of the public can have their say by voting for their favourite entry in the People’s Choice Award.
Votes have to be submitted by 5pm on Friday, May 24 before the awards ceremony is held in Glasgow on Thursday, June 20.
Anna Fowlie, chief executive of SCVO, added: “Our 39 finalists demonstrate just how essential the voluntary sector is to Scottish society, with dedicated organisations and individuals going above and beyond to make a positive and often life-changing impact in their communities.
“Everyone at SCVO is looking forward to shining a light on their essential contributions at our awards ceremony in June.
“The public has the chance to celebrate each of our finalists through the People’s Choice vote, so don’t miss your opportunity to get involved and get behind your favourite finalist by voting now.”
