THERE is still a chance to apply and chair the management board at one of the largest colleges in Scotland.

Applications for the role of chair of the Forth Valley College's Board of Management are open until 5pm on Wednesday, April 24.

Sought are people from a wide range of backgrounds with skills, knowledge or experience in effective governance and accountability, a track record of strategic leadership as well as the ability to communicate effectively.

The role is set to open up as interim chair Trudi Craggs is stepping down with an opportunity for another qualified individual to take on the role at the college, which serves Clackmannanshire, Stirling and Falkirk.

As one of the largest colleges in Scotland, FVC delivers hundreds of course programmes across its campuses in Alloa, Stirling and Falkirk.

On average, the college has around 12,000 students per academic session with 94 per cent of learners progressing to further studies or employment upon completing their course.

They are supported by some 600 staff, providing access to degree level as well as full-time and part-time courses, evening classes, flexible and online learning, vocational qualifications and industry training courses.

Trudi Craggs, who will be continuing her role as a board member, said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as chair of the Board of Management, but now feel it is time to pass on the baton to someone else, and give them the opportunity to drive the work of the board and Forth Valley College forward.

“I will be more than happy to offer advice and support to them in the weeks and months to come.”

The chair role is paid at a gross daily rate of £211, up to a maximum of £21,944 per year.

No pension contribution is paid.

The successful candidate will devote up to two days per week performing their functions when required, up to a maximum of 104 days per year.

A strong commitment to facilitate inclusion, social mobility and thriving communities and an understanding of the economic, social and educational context that colleges operate within are essential criteria.
