FOUR senior NHS Forth Valley staff have been appointed as honorary clinical professors by the University of Stirling.
Dr Jeyakumar Selwyn, Dr Scott Williams, Prof Frances Dodd and Prof Karen Goudie have all recently been selected for honours by the university.
Dr Selwyn, consultant stroke physician and honorary clinical senior lecturer with the University of Edinburgh, was humbled to receive the award and is looking forward to working with students and staff to improve health outcomes.
Dr Williams, deputy medical director for primary care services and a GP, said: “This is a real honour and helps recognise the important role general practice and primary care plays in the delivery of a wide range of health services across Forth Valley.”
Prof Dodd – executive nurse director for nursing, midwifery and AHPs – and Prof Goudie – director of nursing – have been appointed for their contribution to the university's Faculty of Health Sciences and Sport.
Prof Frances Dodd said: “The University of Stirling is an international university with a global reputation for high quality teaching and research so I’m really looking forward to building on our existing close relationship and working to expand the education and training opportunities available for people interesting in pursuing careers within nursing, midwifery and AHPs.”
Prof Goudie said she is “absolutely delighted” to be a part of “such an incredible university” and looks forward to working with colleagues in a range of areas, including research, quality improvement, nurse recruitment and more.
