THE Clackmannanshire Bridge will be closed throughout the night for a week as vital landscape works are carried out on the nearby woodland.
The works, carried out by BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will aim to remove potentially hazardous trees and to improve the woodland areas along the A876.
These works will take place on the nights of Monday, April 15 to Thursday, April 18 between the hours of 9.30pm and 6am.
During these hours, the A876 including the Clackmannanshire Bridge will be closed in both directions between the Higgins Neuk Roundabout south of the Kincardine Bridge and the Kilbagie Roundabout at the junction with the A977.
Alongside the main road and bridge being shut, the footway running along the A876 will also be closed.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s south east network manager, said: “It is essential for safety that we close the Clackmannanshire Bridge while we remove potentially hazardous trees and improve the woodland area.
“We understand that this will be disruptive and have planned the works to take place at night when traffic flows are lower to reduce the impact.
“The nature of the works will result in a slight increase in noise levels and we apologise in advance for the inconvenience this may cause.
“We thank road users and the local community for their patience and understanding.”
Road users heading northbound into Clacks will be diverted across the Kincardine Bridge to the A876 North Approach Road and onto the A977 northbound to Kilbagie Roundabout.
For motorists heading southbound, they will be diverted down the A977 at Kilbagie Roundabout onto the A876 North Approach Road and across Kincardine Bridge.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. All works are weather dependant and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
