A CLACKS pensioner accused of murdering his partner has been deemed unfit to stand trial.
As reported by the Advertiser last March, John Pryde, 77, was accused of killing Catherine Pryde, 74, at her home in The Engine Green, Fishcross.
The charges for the 77-year-old state that he inflicted blunt force trauma to his partner’s head, neck and body.
As is the case when the accused is unfit to stand trial, there will instead be an Examination of Facts hearing.
During this hearing, evidence will be led before a judge, but no jury.
In addition to the murder charges, Mr Pryde is also accused of defeating the ends of justice by trying to wash bloodstained clothes and floors.
Lady Stacey has fixed a date of April 10 in Dundee for the Examination of Facts hearing.
