A Wee County golf club will be hosting Easter Camps this spring.
Muckhart Golf Club is once again offering Easter Camps which will be organised and delivered by PGA Professional Palmer Mitchell. There are two camps available to youngsters, the beginner camp and the intermediate camp.
Palmer said: “There are two different types of camps available, beginner and intermediate. The beginner camp covers the basics in all the main disciplines in golf including putting, chipping, pitching, iron play, and driving.
“A big part of the beginner camps is developing fundamental movement skills in children such as running, skipping, jumping, throwing, balance and coordination.
"Each session starts with an extensive warm up working on multiple fundamental movements skills with the aim of developing children’s athletic ability which is not only essential for excelling at learning to play golf but also good for general skill acquisition in any skill related physical activity.

“The intermediate group continues working on the main disciplines in golf with more detail and refining of their skills. We also spend time on the course trying to take the skills learned on the practice area in action on the course. We also talk course management and other things related to performing well on the course.”
There is space for a maximum of 15 youngsters in the beginner group, and nine in the intermediate group. The recommended age for beginners is seven to eleven, and the recommended age for intermediate players is ten to sixteen years old.
“We are very much looking forward to the Junior Camps this year. It is great to see so many children enjoying outdoor activity during the school holidays.
"The great thing about the camps is we’ve seen lots of children come to a few beginner camps then progress to the intermediate camps, so there is a great pathway for young golfers to progress.” Palmer added.
The camps will take place on April 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, and 11 for both groups. The beginner group will take place from 11am to 1pm, and the intermediate group will be from 2pm to 4pm.
