Alloa Framing Company are looking for volunteers to help brighten the high street with some yarn bombing.
Yarn bombing is a type of graffiti or street art which uses colourful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn. They are often used to decorate bollards and post boxes.
The theme is a spring/ Easter one, and Alloa Framing Company are looking for people who are willing to make some flowers, rabbits, or birds.
Yarn bombing in Alloa has taken place over the last two Christmases, and they also did it for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Liz Hatrick, of Alloa Framing Company, said she started it: “Just to brighten the place up a wee bit. Just to put a smile on people’s faces.”
Anyone can give yarn bombing a go. Liz added: “They don’t need to be experts, it can even just be flowers. If they crocheted flowers, we would use them.”
Liz is happy to give any advice to the new volunteers, who once they have completed their piece, simply hand it into the shop before Easter.
