A TRAVELLING stage show aiming to encourage children to take up interest in the performing arts will call into Clacks in May.
The Primary Schools Tour, an award winning roadshow by Scottish Opera, will set off this month to visit some of the country’s schools.
Their show, entitled Vikings! The Quest for the Dragon’s Treasure, has been re-imagined and expanded to make it accessible and adaptable for all schools in Scotland.
Across its long list of schools to go through, the Scottish Opera show will call in at Dollar Academy, expected to go ahead on May 3.
This is the only Wee County school expected to host the show, with the tour kicking off at Flora Stevenson Primary School in Edinburgh.
For schools not on the list, Scottish Opera has redesigned their format to make it easier than ever for them to access a digital version of the show.
By carrying out the show, they aim to supply the need to support music teaching in Scottish schools, which has seen a sharp decline in recent years.
Jane Davidson MBE, director of outreach and education at Scottish Opera, said: “We hope that pupils in primary schools across Scotland will delight in this original story, where the Vikings learn that not all treasure consists of gold and jewels, and that living in harmony with the land and the seasons is a lesson they’d be silly to ignore.”
