CHILDREN from Coalsnaughton Primary School had the opportunity to work alongside Nike Community Ambassadors.
Two ambassadors from the local Nike store, Gordon Leslie and Mirren Torkington, led a 6-week programme of fitness activities to encourage children to keep active.
The children had been learning about the importance of warming up, stretching before exercise and taking part in team games.
Colleen ClarkBurns, headteacher of Coalsnaughton, said: “Pre-Covid, we worked in partnership with the Nike Community Ambassadors and it is so good to reignite that connection.
“The quality of the sessions, the commitment of the Nike team have been second to none.
“We are looking forward to jointly planning activities across the year.”
The sessions were well received by pupils across the board, with senior pupils commenting that Gordon took time to find a way to include everyone at all times.
Gordon also entertained the children with knowledge of professional sporting personalities that he has met in his career.
The children commented to teachers that they would love to have future sessions, while the Nike Ambassadors remarked that they would be up for coming back.
Gordon explained that it had been great coming into the school and that children had been coming into the school with their pupils to properly introduce themselves.
The ambassadors will be returning to the school to support the school’s health week in May, with plans underway for them to referee a pupil/school netball match.
Gordon was presented with a gift to show the school’s appreciation by senior school captains CJ Smith and Kacie Haddow alongside members of the P3/4 class.
