AN ALLOA pub has received national acclaim for the quality and standards of their toilet facilities.

The Bobbing John, owned by Wetherspoons, was awarded a platinum rating by inspectors during Loo of the Year Awards 2023.

These awards aim to highlight and improve standards of ‘away from home’ toilet provisions around the country.

Toilets are given grades of silver, gold, platinum, platinum plus or diamond, with unacceptable toilets receiving no grades at all.

Sarah Hills, manager of The Bobbing John on Drysdale Street, said: “We are delighted with the award.

“Staff at the pub ensure the toilets are in excellent condition at all times and it is great that this has been recognised by the inspectors.”

Thousands of pubs across the UK are inspected by Loo of the Year representatives during unannounced visits.

The toilets are then judged across a number of criteria including décor and maintenance, cleanliness, accessibility, hand washing and drying equipment and overall management.

Becky Wall, Loo of the Year Awards managing director, said: “The toilets at The Bobbing John have been designed and fitted out to a very high standard and are both clean and well maintained.

“The pub deserves its platinum award.”
