A Clackmannanshire nature writer has published a new book on the incredible wildlife in Britain.
Keith Broomfield, who writes the weekly 'On the Wildside' column for the Advertiser, has published a book all about the wildlife found in Britain.
Published by Tippermuir Books, Wild Quest Britain is a year-long journey across Britain from Cornwall to Caithness. In each chapter, Keith marvels at the natural landscapes and discovers a range of flora and fauna, on land and in the sea.
Keith, who lives in Dollar, said: "The book is a wildlife journey of discovery through Britain, starting at the southernmost point of the mainland – Lizard Point in Cornwall – and over the course of a year working my way slowly northwards in a zig-zag fashion, and finishing at Dunnet Head in Caithness, the northernmost point.
"During my journey, I describe some of the amazing wildlife encountered, and while the book is essentially a celebration of nature, it also highlights many of the threats our environment is facing in this crowded island of ours.”
Wild Quest Britain isn't Keith's first book to be published. He has previously written two other books, If Rivers Could Sing and A Scottish Wildlife Odyssey.
“I hope Wild Quest Britain encourages people to look closer at the environment around them," added Keith. "I quite deliberately chose to visit some areas of Britain that are not so well known, but when you delve deep, there is still so much wildlife of interest to be discovered, including invertebrates and fungi which don’t have the same star-billing perhaps as more spectacular species such as dolphins, eagles or puffins.”
Wild Quest Britain can be purchased at online sellers and in bookshops. It is also available to purchase from The Sorting Office and The Wee Bookshop (opening Friday, November 3) in Dollar.
