ONE of Scotland’s oldest flower shows made its return for 2023 in what seems to be a promising post-Covid revival.
The Dollar Flower Show and Craft Exhibition 2023, organised by Dollar Horticultural & Garden Club, attracted a higher attendance than usual as it was held last weekend.
Organisers praised the outstanding quality of all entries in the various categories which include potted plants, fruit, flowers and vegetables.
Margaret Stephenson, chairperson for the Dollar Horticultural & Garden Club, was delighted with the turnout and popularity of the show.
“It was a great show,” she said. “This was one of the best shows that we’ve had in quite a few years.
"We had lots and lots of entries in all sections of a very high quality.
“We were very well supported in the afternoon from people who came to see the show and admire all the entries.
“We had loads of different sections and all sections were well supported with entries which were all of a very high standard.
“It was a hard job for the judges to pick the best out of a lot of good stuff. The weather, thankfully, was kind to us in the end.
“Our attendance was higher than usual and the afternoon tea was very well attended.
"This feels like a real revival after the two years that we missed due to Covid.
“We’d like to say thank you to our supporters.”
There has been a flower show held in Dollar ever since the 1880s in a tradition that looks set to carry on for many years to come.
