A MAN jumped out of the vehicle he had been speeding away from police in when it was still moving.
Mark Williamson, who was driving without a licence, was pursued by police over the Clackmannanshire Bridge and into Falkirk.
He exited the vehicle while it was in motion and it crashed into a tree.
Williamson, of Haining Road, Whitecross, appeared in the dock at Alloa Sheriff Court last Thursday, February 24.
He admitted that on January 3, on the B9140 road near Dollarbeg, the A977 at Forestmill, the A876 towards the Clackmannanshire Bridge, then in Carronshore and Falkirk, he drove a van dangerously.
He failed to stop having been directed to do so by officers in a marked police vehicle pursuing him displaying blue flashing lights and sounding its klaxon.
He accelerated to make off from the police vehicle, repeatedly drove at speeds over the limits, repeatedly overtook vehicles when it was unsafe to do so and at Shiel Gardens, Falkirk, exited the van when it was still moving, causing it to collide with a tree.
He drove without being the holder of a valid driving licence and without insurance.
Sheriff Neil Bowie imposed a community payback order with 210 hours of unpaid work, two years of supervision and a 150-day restriction of liberty order.
Williamson was also banned from driving for 40 months and until he passes the extended test.
