ONE of Central Athletic Club’s athletes took the Scottish Indoor Championships by storm earlier this month as he won his first ever Scottish title.
Dylan McCulloch won the Under 17s 400 metre sprint, coming in at an impressive 50.69 seconds, smashing his personal best and the club record in the process at the races held on Saturday, February 3.
It had been a big month for Dylan as he had helped his team to the national relay finals a week earlier and won a bronze medal at the Scottish Schools Championships just four days before.
During the championships, he broke a nine-year-old club record with his time.
The young athlete clocked in a superb 51.28 second sprint, which broke the club record, a feat he went on to do again in the final when he took 1.5s off the club record.
Other Central athletes performed well over the weekend including Ben Greenwood who took an excellent win at the indoor championships as he became the club’s first ever Scottish indoor track champion in the 1500m.
Ben won the gold medal in the race after showing patience throughout the race and gradually upped his pace to finish the final lap with a time of 3:52.06 minutes.
Daniel Bruce earned a new personal best in the 200m to progress to the semi-finals as he finished on 23.30 seconds.
The athletes join a long list of Central Athletics members who clocked in impressive results at the Indoor Championships.
