FURTHER rail strikes are set to cause disruption this week as industrial action is planned by RMT members of Network Rail.
Strikes will take part across the country on Wednesday, July 27, causing rail travel delays and significant disruption.
ScotRail has said there will also be some disruption the evening before and the morning after the strike, caused by the closing and re-opening of signal boxes.
Wee County commuters are being warned that no services will run from Alloa on Wednesday this week.
What ScotRail services are affected by the strikes?
On Wednesday, ONLY the following ScotRail services WILL run and ONLY between the hours of 7:30am and 6:30pm:
- Edinburgh – Glasgow via Falkirk High: two trains per hour
- Edinburgh – Bathgate: two trains per hour
- Glasgow – Hamilton/Larkhall: two trains per hour
- Glasgow – Lanark: two trains per hour
- Edinburgh – Glasgow via Shotts: one train per hour
Final services on these routes will depart well before 18.30, so customers should check before travelling.
You can see the full list of cancelled services for the three-day disruption period on the ScotRail website here.
Avanti West Coast, LNER and CrossCountry disruption in Scotland
Avanti West Coast has confirmed its timetable will face strike disruption, however, an official replacement timetable has not yet been confirmed for Wednesday, July 27. It is advised you check the status of your journey and prepare for alternative methods of travel.
There are no LNER services North of Edinburgh on Wednesday, July 27. The first and last trains departing Edinburgh heading south are: 7:30am to London King's Cross, with the last train to London at 12:30pm and the last train to Newcastle at 5pm.
CountryCross has suspended reservations for Wednesday, July 27. A very reduced amount of trains will be arriving into Edinburgh on this day, you can view the confirmed revised timetable here.
Last week, RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said: “Strike action will take place next Wednesday as planned and our members are more determined than ever to secure a decent pay rise, job security and good working conditions.
“Network Rail have not made any improvement on their previous pay offer and the train companies have not offered us anything new.
“RMT will continue to negotiate in good faith but we will not be bullied or cajoled by anyone."
