TWO Alloa teenagers have been selected to represent Caledonia Reds in an upcoming tournament.
Robbie Truesdale and Layton Bryce have been called up to the U16s squad for the upcoming FOSRUC U16 Scottish Regional Rugby Championship.
The two youngsters are former youth players of Alloa RFC and currently play for Stirling County RFC.
Alloa Academy was nominated to take part in the Midlands player development programme which involved a games day at the end of a seven-week development training programme.
Both boys excelled and impressed the coaches of the Caledonia Red U16s and have been selected to represent the region in the upcoming games in July and September.
They will face Edinburgh and the East, Glasgow and the West and The Borderers to be crowned FOSRUC U16s Scottish Regional Champions 2022.
Friends Robbie And Layton are both inspired by former pupils of Clackmannanshire Schools Rugby and current Scotland captain Grant Gilchrist who, along with former ex-pros Kevin Bryce, Glen Bryce and Sean Kennedy, represented the Caledonia Region and came through the Scottish Rugby pathway programme.
Layton and Robbie have the same opportunity to further their rugby journey as the best players from these regions will make up the Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby U16s squads as well as Scotland U16s next spring in 2023.
