PUPILS arrived from a dozen Wee County primaries to compete in a schools quiz last week.
Menstrie PS bagged the trophy at last Tuesday's, March 29, Primary Schools Quiz, organised by the Rotary Club of Alloa.
Children gathered at Alva Academy that day to compete for the Jim Keenan Cup and for a chance to go into the Rotary's area final later in the year.
There was stiff competition with runners-up Redwell PS just a single point shy of a first-place tie.
Alloa Rotary Club's Steve Maguire, who headed up the event and MCed with flair, said: “I’d just like to thank the schools who decided to enter and the young learners for their good-natured and well-behaved participation in the event and to congratulate them on their excellent general knowledge.
“Thanks too to all my fellow-Rotarians working at the event and to parents and teachers for coming along and providing much-appreciated support and encouragement.”
The club was also encouraging parents and guardians at the event to sing up as members and collections continued for Ukraine via the Warsaw Rotary Appeal with thanks going to all who contributed.
The fundraising partnership with the Warsaw club is set to continue going forward as well.
As previously reported, the Alloa Rotary Club's upcoming Tour de Clacks event will also support the appeal when it goes ahead on Sunday, May 1.
The Alloa group has already transferred £5,000 to Warsaw, where members visited in 2019 with friendships formed
