ALVA’S new Post Office finally opened its doors last week.
The branch, located in Budgens on East Stirling Street, officially opened its doors last Tuesday, March 22.
It will restore full-time service in the area and replaces the temporary mobile Post Office.
This offers 56 hours of Post Office service a week for the convenience of customers.
A Post Office counter is alongside the retail counter of the convenience store.
Since March 2021 a temporary mobile Post Office had operated in Alva, following the resignation of the Postmaster.
This service, provided by the Postmaster for Kippen, has ceased service after the visit on Friday, March 18 ahead of the permanent solution.
Robert Sharp, Post Office network provision lead, said: “We are delighted to have restored a full-time Post Office at Budgens.
“We thank the Postmaster for Kippen for providing the temporary, part-time Mobile Post Office service for Alva in the interim.”
News of a Post Office returning to Alva was welcomed by local politicians when it was announced last month.
Keith Brown, MSP for the Clackmannanshire and Dunblane constituency, said: “I am extremely pleased to learn that a new location and postmaster has been found to operate a full-time Post Office in Alva.
“I know that this will be very welcome news for the local community and I wish Budgens all the very best with this new venture.
“I am sure, too, that the people of Alva will join with me in thanking the Kippen postmaster for the mobile service that has been provided whilst Alva has been without a post office of its own.”
Alva’s Post Office is open daily from 9am until 5pm.
