ELECTIONS for community councils across the Wee County are set to take place this year following a delay due to the pandemic.
Clackmannanshire Council last week confirmed that nominations are to open today, Wednesday August 11, for all nine community councils across the area.
All positions are to be filled at the community councils in Alloa; Alva; Clackmannan; Dollar; Menstrie; Sauchie and Fishcross; Tillicoultry, Coalsnaughton and Devonside; Tullibody, Cambus and Glenochil; as well as Muckhart.
Provost Tina Murphy said: “Elections are extremely important to community councils and our community councils are keen to fill their membership.
“They derive strength from the support of local people and in return give back to their communities through the role they fulfil representing the interests of the whole area.
“It is times of severe pressure when we really see how important community groups such as community councils are.
“They will continue to play an active role in the recovery of Clackmannanshire’s communities as we gradually resume normal activities."
People from all walks of life are being encouraged to get involved.
Anyone at the age of 16 or over who appears on the electoral roll in Clacks can stand as a candidate or propose or second someone as part of the nominations process.
The closing date for nominations is 4pm on Thursday, September 2.
For further information, or a nomination pack, residents can contact the Elections Office at the council via elections@clacks.gov.uk or call 01259 452 266.
