A CLACKS gundog breeder and his dogs have enjoyed back-to-back victories at national competitions.
Alistair Learmonth, who runs Riffmuir Kennels in Alloa, is celebrating victories from his German Shorthair Pointers Meah and Heidi.
Alistair took part in the four-nations hunt, point, retrieve Home Internationals Ragley Hall in Warwickshire, where Heidi was the top scorer in the Scottish team and was only three points from being top dog.
Their success continued when Meah came first place and won Judges Choice after achieving a 93/100 at the Test Valley Gundog club GWT run near Basingstoke.
The recent victories bring continued success for Alistair and his dogs after Heidi achieved field trial champion status in January 2020.
Alistair told the Advertiser: "We've had a lot of good fortune this year.
"We've never had back to back wins and I've never seen other teams do it."
Alistair continued: "It was quite a stiff test for the dogs, but Meah came out with 93 and Heidi was the top scorer."
"When training a gundog you have to put a lot of time in and there is a lot of luck in it.
"Depending on where the dummy drops or if there is a wind change.
"If you put the time in then there is a lot of good fortune in gundogs."
Meah will be back to competing this weekend as she joins the team representing the German Shorthaired Pointer breed at a competition in Sussex on September 15.
Alistair concluded: "Hopefully, this Sunday she [Meah] does it again."
