ALLOA'S Wimpy Park is appealing for help to fulfil the community's wish of a dream garden.
The park has been selected for a Beechgrove Garden special makeover to be aired on BBC1.
Excitingly, the Wimpy Park Community Group has also secured a 20-year lease from Clackmannanshire Council.
Formed in 2017, the group have worked hard with the community over the past four years to maintain a safe social space for everyone and provide activities for all ages to enjoy.
The proposed dates for the makeover of the park will be the week commencing August 23 and the group are seeking support from the community, local companies and organisations to lend a hand.
Plans for the garden include a sensory garden, amphitheatre, accessible flower beds, orchard and wildflower garden with a focus on the bigger plan of a play park, toilets, kitchen and office facilities and community space.
Fin Robertson, chairperson of WPCG, says this will be a "big part" of the overall plan for Wimpy Park.
He said: "The whole group are totally buzzing about this opportunity with the Beechgrove.
"It's fantastic for the community, especially the groups, individuals and families that have been working really hard to develop this community garden.
"The knowledge skills and expertise the Beechgrove will bring will hopefully make this community garden a very, very special place, that not just our community will enjoy and use but for the whole of Clackmannanshire and beyond."
The group have match funded the donation given by Beechgrove, and they will be setting up a Crowdfunding fundraiser to ensure they create a dream garden for the community.
Any support, however small, will be appreciated to help the team achieve this goal.
Fin continued: "Obviously, we are all a bit nervous as this is a huge task and transformation we are attempting here.
"This will also be a big part of the overall plan for the Wimpy park to become a fantastic learning hub and adventure play park with all the amenities within the park to make this happen.
"We are appealing to all businesses and companies and suppliers large and small to please really get behind us and support and donate whatever you can or any groups or individuals that can help out please get in touch with our team."
Anyone who would like to volunteer or support the effort is asked to contact wimpypark2017@aol.co.uk or the WPCG Facebook page as soon as possible to be kept up to date with developments, plans and requirements.
