A QUIRKY dream-come-true hair salon in Alloa is hosting an opening day this weekend as the business launches on Bank Street.

Wonderland Hair salon is a dream come true for owner Sarah Wilson, who is marking the opening of the business with a competition running on hairdresser's Facebook page.

Located under 23 Bank Street, the premises has been completely transformed by the “self-confessed Disney addict”, whose entire arm features Alice in Wonderland tattoos.

Sarah said: “Wonderland to me is going to be a salon people can come to escape from the world for a little bit, where anything goes, and everyone can be themselves no matter what.

“Everyone will be welcome and hopefully everyone feels at home.

“I want to create a cool and quirky salon environment, as well as produce great hair, it must be about the salon experience too.”

Sarah is launching the business with 14 years of industry experience under her belt, having started out with Rhona McCallum before joining Frances Hunter hair and more recently rented a chair at Amy Jane's.

She feels the time is right to open her very own business and said: “I loved working within established and respected salons in Alloa but after I had my little boy, I wanted to do something that suited me better.

“I went self-employed renting a chair, but I didn’t have the power to change things to be my own way, so when the opportunity arose, I decided to go for it.

“It has always been a dream of mine and I feel now is just the right time for me.”

Winners of the opening day competition will be announced this weekend while Sarah is also offering discounts for her opening month.

While she is busy opening the salon, Sarah also spends her spare time powerlifting in the gym.

Despite a hefty schedule she works out six days a week, recently qualifying for the world championships later in November.
