ELDERLY people in Dollar will tomorrow have the chance to enjoy a lunch out and feel the wind in their hair.
A lunch club event is being held at The Hive on Thursday, June 17, with free trishaw bike rides also on offer.
Food is being organised by the Lunch Club at Home by the Playpen Café, which has delivered nearly 5,000 meals to older people around the town since the pandemic began with Alexandra Ostroumoff-Croucher at the helm.
Hearty soup, freshly-made sandwiches and the café's signature baking will be on offer for £7.
Also coming along on the day will be Cycling Without Age Scotland's Clackmannanshire branch with Wee County man Henry Gill in the saddle.
Mr Gill, who was instrumental in launching the volunteer trishaw service in the area in 2019, will be offering short fun rides around the town using the three-wheeled bikes.
The event will be a chance to reconnect with some friends in what will be the first face-to-face offering of the Lunch Club at Home.
For Mr Gill, who had been delivering miles with smiles before Covid-19 hit the county, it will be an opportunity to showcase the service, which was launched in a bid to reduce social isolation.
He said: "Cycling Without Age Clacks are keen to get everybody in Clackmannanshire who cannot get out of the house back out into the countryside and we are happy to come and pick them up at their home."
The trishaw pilot is keen to get back to what the service was offering pre-Covid.
Two routes will be available on the day in what is a taster session – with hopes trishaws could be making sure elderly people in Dollar enjoy a bit of fresh air on a weekly basis.
The lunch event tomorrow will start at 11.30am and is set to end at around 2pm.
People over the age of 65 are being invited and a carer or family member is welcome too.
Separate from the trishaw tours, free transport is also available for people who may have mobility issues.
Bookings are £7 per person and organisers are promising a safe social space to reconnect with the community.
To book, people can email Alexandra via alexandra@theplaypencafe.co.uk or call 07818 638 778.
