IT was a successful night for two of Clacks’ rising MMA stars as they romped to impressive wins in a closed door event.
Shaun Conway and Jimmy McCallum continued their unbeaten runs with victories at the Evolution of Combat, which was streamed to thousands of viewers online.
McCallum secured a unanimous decision win over Englishman Rafferty Stewart with Conway making light work of SGB South Shields fighter Mak Reeder.
The wins for the Clacks fighters, who both train out of the Submission Factory under the guidance of Alloa man Craig McIntosh, joined the likes of Scott Malone and Reece McEwan in getting the better of their opponents earlier this month.
The show was held at an undisclosed location, adhering to the current Covid-19 guidelines and offered full testing for anyone entering the building.
First up on the night for Clackmannanshire was McCallum, taking on the undefeated Stewart from Kaizen Academy in Lancaster, England.
It was clear both fighters were excited to be back competing as the fight was fast paced from the start.
McCallum was able to win each round soundly getting the better of the exchanges on the feet and landing several takedowns in each round.
When the official decision was announced it was no surprise it was a unanimous decision victory on all three judges scorecards in favour of McCallum making his record 2-0 in amateur Mixed Martial Arts.
Next up on the night was Conway, facing the undefeated Englishman Reeder from the well respected SBG South Shields.
Conway was able to dominate all three rounds landing the better strikes on the feet and scoring takedowns almost finishing the fight with several submission attempts.
When the final decision was announced all three judges scored it in favour of Shaun Conway building his record to 3-0 in amateur MMA.
McIntosh’s Submission Factory will be opening a custom MMA facility in Alloa at the start of next year offering MMA, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Strength and Conditioning and Yoga.
