CHILDREN attending Tillicoultry Primary nursery class are provided with a warm and sympathetic environment where they are helped to be connected with their local community and to raise attainment, an inspection by the Care Inspectorate has found.

An unannounced inspection took place in August and the report has now been published.

Inspectors graded the nursery as 'Very Good' in all areas of inspection - quality of care and support, and quality of environment.

The inspection found the following strengths:

-Staff provided many opportunities that promoted and supported healthy lifestyles, through healthy eating, routines and staying active

-Children accessed newly developed outdoors areas on most days, providing them with an ideal balance of healthy learning experiences

-The layout of all rooms took into account children’s individual needs, including quiet areas for rest and quiet time and areas for children with additional support needs

-Staff have a wide knowledge of child protection issues, and work effectively with other agencies to share information where appropriate to ensure informed decisions are made about the best way to support children and families

-Children are praised by staff for taking care of their environment, growing their own vegetables and cooking the produce
