A FORMER Lornshill Academy headteacher is the winner of the Costa Short Story Award 2015.
Danny Murphy scooped the accolade last night (Tuesday, January 26) at the prestigious Costa Book Awards ceremony in central London, which saw him presented with a cheque for £3,500 by Costa managing director Christopher Rogers.
He netted the top spot for penning Rogey - the tale of a complex boy, who lives life as a bit of an outsider.
Earlier this week, the Advertiser reported that Danny was shortlisted for the award.
And yesterday, the 64-year-old, from Stirling, beat five other writers in a public vote where the identities of all six writers were unknown.
