THE WEE COUNTY has shown its support to the family of a young man, who was found dead in Alloa this week.

A fundraising campaign to aid the family of the young lad, who has been named locally as Conor Brown, has raised more than £10,000 in just one day.

The 'Remembering Conor' page on gofundme.com has seen donations of around £13,000 to date after it was started by local man and friend Rikky Alexander as well as other mates on Tuesday, March 7.

The Advertiser has since managed to contact Rikky, who said: “To raise so much money in such a short space of time shows how much Conor was loved by everyone.

“We're all heartbroken and send our deepest sympathies to the family. We will all love, miss and remember him forever.

“When the boys came up with the idea for the page I don't think any of us imagined it would be this successful. It'll never take away the pain but we just hope it can take some of the pressure away from Conor's family.

“We really can't thank everyone enough who has donated!”

Nearly 900 people have donated so far, with many leaving heartfelt messages in memory of the man.

Leaving his tribute, Lee Cairney wrote: “I first met Conor and Declan when we were only 5-6 years old, playing football for local side eventually to be coached by both our dads.

“Even then he always put others first, and from doing this I always [had] time for him and his family, such a lovely family who always supported each other in everything they did.

“I'll always cherish the happy memories along with the sad ones we shared together my friend, and I will never forget you!

“I just wish you were here to see how much you mattered in so many people's lives. You were always The Holy Goalie! And we will make you're memory live on! Always! #CB”

Sam Gray added: “The amount raised speaks volumes about Conor. Love you forever.

As reported earlier, police were alerted to the woodland near Forth Crescent's junction with Katrine Court on Monday morning following the discovery of a man's body.

The road was blocked off to allow for investigations – a Police Scotland spokeswoman told the Advertiser on the day: “Enquiries into the full circumstances are ongoing, but the death is not being treated as suspicious. Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
